My passion for fly-fishing was born on the Blue River in Colorado, just below the Dillon Dam. I used to walk or ride my bike past it twice a day on my
way to work. Seeing trout rise in the water to some rhythm that I didn't understand kept me going back. A local named Johnny Unger, now owner of
BossTin in Pagosa Springs, took me under his tutelage and taught me how to read the water, choose the right fly for the conditions, and the patience
and skills to be confident in the water.
 Why did I become a guide? I've had a lifelong interest and career in coaching and mentoring others - sharing what I know and observing people change and improve in their skills is what I love about being a guide. When that roll cast sits just right, when a client turns to look at me with a fish on and an ever bigger smile - that's why I enjoy being a guide. Sure, it's a dream job, but it's hard work at the same time. But it's 100% worth it. I've fly fished across the Western US, and my dream trip(s) would be to Alaska and Belize.
